
JEWISH TOUR OF PIEDEMONT
Tour 7 Nights – 8 Days
Day 1: Arrival - MAGGIORE LAKE
Arrival at the hotel, welcome cocktail and presentation of the program, panoramic tour of the lake by bus, evening meal and overnight in Hotel.
Day 2: MAGGIORE LAKE
Buffet breakfast. Trip by motorboat to the Isole Borromee in order to visit Isola Bella (“beautiful island”) with its incredible baroque mansion and Italian gardens with their 10 terraces overlooking the lake. Cooking lesson and lunch in Isola Bella. We will then go to Isola dei Pescatori (“fishermen's island”) that owes its name to the occupation of its inhabitants. This island, with its medieval charm, narrow streets and the view of the lake, is difficult to forget. In the afternoon we will go to Isola Madre (“Mother Island”) where the rich and lush vegetation will help us relax as we admire beautiful specimens of peacocks, pheasants and other birds. Cocktail in the terrasse overlooking the lake. Dinner and overnight in Hotel.
Day 3: MAGGIORE LAKE / CASALE MONFERRATO/ASTI
Departure after breakfast for Casale Monferrato, a town at the heart of battles. The Jewish Community of Casale is a traditional orthodox congregation, and it is one of the most famous Jewish city in Piedmont as for its Museums and Synagogue. Time for lunch. Our trip continues to Asti, the main town of Monferrato. It is also known as the City of the 100 towers and it is famous for a very well-preserved district built in the Middle Ages. Jewish heritage tour. Dinner and overnight surrounding area of Asti.
Day 4: ALBA/ GRINZANE CAVOUR / ASTI
After breakfast, transfer to Alba, the capital of the Langhe where the medieval monuments still conserve the original charming. The town is also famous for the National Truffle Festival which is held here every year in October. At the end departure a unforgettable Wine tasting in the “Enoteca regionale”, located in the Castle Grinzane Cavour. Here you can also visit the beautiful Castle. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 5: SALUZZO/RACCONIGI/CARMAGNOLA/TORINO
Breakfast and departure to Saluzzo, at the foot of the imposing "pyramid" of the Monviso and famous for its medieval centre with the characteristic narrow streets. The synagogue of Saluzzo has anonymous façade. Its prayer room can hold 300 worshippers and is unique in that it is the only Holy Ark in Piedmont with curved doors. After lunch, we shall go on to visit the royal castle of Racconigi, linked to the history of the House of Savoy. Its lavish decorations and furnishings provide a wonderful Piedmont example of European courtly tastes and styles of the last century.
The last stop of the day will be in Carmagnola, with an important Jewish heritage and guards the Synagogue that is considered one of the most beautiful in Piedmont. Arrival in Turin. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: TURIN
After breakfast meeting with the guide and visit of the city. You will take a walk in the Baroque centre of the town to admire the splendid buildings such as Palazzo Carignano, Palazzo Barolo, Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Madama, the Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo known as the "drawing-room of Turin", and The Mole Antonelliana. Stop for lunch. Visit to the e Ghetto nuovo and the modern synagogue. Opportunity to visit the Primo Levi Centro Internazionale degli Studi. Dinner and overnight in Hotel.
Day 7: TURIN
After breakfast Tour of the outskirts of the town: the Royal Villa of Stupinigi of the Savoy family, the former hunting residence of Vittorio Amedeo, a magnificent example of rococò style, surrounded by an extensive park. In the afternoon you can choose between:
- visit to the Egyptian Museum, the second largest in the world (after Cairo's in Egypt) for its outstanding collection of mummies, statues, artifacts, and exhibits.
- Time at leisure for shopping.
Dinner and Overnight in hotel.
Day 8: TURIN/MALPENSA
